The Commercial Main Street

As the main north/south connector between the Perkiomen Valley portion of the Collegeville region and the Rt. 422 Expressway, Rt. 29 (also known as First and Second Avenue in the Borough) has shifted much of the commercial focus within the Borough from the traditional Main Street. Thus, a new "commercial" Main Street has developed here to supplement the traditional Main Street.

Beginning with the Collegeville Shopping Center and a few commercial establishments near Main Street, the "commercial" Main Street was extended southward with the addition of the Marketplace Shopping Center and the Collegeville Professional Center. Other businesses have infilled between them.

The commercial Main Street includes an Acme and a Redner's supermarket, several restaurants, many professional offices, and a wide assortment of other goods and services.

Additional opportunities for development exist on the commercial Main Street at the Mid-Atlantic Equipment tract on Rt. 29S, and at the Harleysville tract at the intersection of Rt. 29N and Main Street. There are also opportunities for commercial use on East and West Third Avenue and the Collegeville Station.
