The College
Ursinus College was founded in 1869 when members of the German Reformed Church purchased
the Freeland Seminary the school located on the flat upper
part of Main Street formerly known as Freeland. Since that time
Ursinus College has become "one of the top 50 Liberal Arts colleges
in the East". The campus provides educational opportunities through
full-time, continuing education, and evening classes.
The scenic tree shaded campus provides a calming centerpiece for
the Collegeville region. Borough residents who walk, bike, and jog
often include the campus on their route, and everyone in the region can
enjoy the many cultural activities open to the public such as; the
Phillip and Muriel Berman Museum of Art, the outdoor sculpture exhibit,
concerts, and more.
In addition, many of our corporate neighbors take advantage of
the educational and cultural opportunities available at Ursinus
and develop working relationships with the campus.
