Meet the Chief
Chief of Police Barton Bucher
Chief Bucher became the Collegeville Police Department Chief of Police in August, 2000. He was selected from the ranks of the department where he served for 11 years.
As Chief of Police, Bucher's first goals for the Department included hiring two new Officers, creating a Detective position, joining other departments in multi jurisdictional task forces - Montgomery County SWAT - Wester Region, Valley Forge Area DUI Enforcement Team and the Montgomery County Municipal Drug Task Force- and seeing to it that the Department has more involvement with the community.
Others goals for the department include:
- Work with the Mayor and Borough Council to address problems that are detrimental to the community
- Make residents more aware that the Police Department is accessible and can be called upon at any time for assistance
- Monitor the activities along the Borough of Collegeville portion of the Perkiomen Trail
Chief Bucher (pronounced boo-ker) is a graduate of West Chester University with a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice. Chief Bucher is Past President of the Police Chiefs™ Association of Montgomery County, is a member of the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association, and the International Association of Chiefs of Police. Chief Bucher also serves as an Assistant to the Commander of the Montgomery County SWAT - Western Region.
