The Collegeville Region > Resources In the Region
Newspapers
There is no Collegeville based
newspaper. Instead the Borough and the region are served by as many
as six papers. The following list describes each newspaper, it's
base community, whether it's published daily or weekly, and relevant
information about it. Web site links are provided but only The Philadelphia
Inquirer and The Daily News have their entire papers online. All
other links provide an example of the paper with limited articles.
Each paper is available at local stores and by subscription.
In addition, several papers may arrive free in your mail. These
contain ads about regional businesses but, while they are a good
source of information about regional goods and services providers,
they contain little news.
The Mercury
The Mercury is based in Pottstown and is probably the largest local
newspaper. The paper is published daily and covers a wide area extending
from King of Prussia to Reading and includes the Collegeville region.

at www.pottsmerc.com
The Valley Item
The Valley Item is based in Schwenksville and is published weekly.
The paper covers the Perkiomen Valley Region including the Boroughs
of Collegeville, Trappe, and Schwenksville, and Perkiomen, Skippack,
Lower Frederick, and Salford townships.
The Valley Item is currently the best source of coverage of the
Collegeville region's borough, township, and planning commission
meetings.
(Note: The Valley Item online does not update promptly, thus online
content may be one or two weeks old.)

Item at www.valleyitem.com
The Spring-Ford Reporter
The Spring-Ford Reporter is based in Royersford and is published
weekly. The paper serves the Royersford region including the boroughs
of Royersford and Spring City, and Limerick, Upper Providence, and
East Vincent Townships.
The Spring-Ford Reporter is currently the best source of coverage
of the Royersford and Upper Providence Township region's borough,
township, and planning commission meetings.

the Schuylkill river in Chester County. The paper is published daily.

Borough, the Colonial Theater, and the Phoenixville YMCA.

The Times-Herald
The Times Herald is base in Norristown and is published daily.
While they provide limited coverage of Collegeville region news,
they are a good source of information about the activities of the
Montgomery County Government.

The Philadelphia Inquirer and The Daily News
The Philadelphia Inquirer and The Daily News are the newspapers
of the city of Philadelphia. They provide complete coverage of the
entire Philadelphia region, but limited coverage of Collegeville
region news. The Daily News is more sports oriented.
