Hunsberger Woods

One of the scenic views found in the Hunsberger Woods.

Hunsberger Woods is the one place in the Borough where you'll find nothing—and that's what everyone likes about it. It is a 27-acre open space and passive recreation area located on East Ninth Avenue. The park was graciously offered to the Borough by the Hunsberger family, the long time owners of the property. In 1996, the park was acquired using Montgomery County Open Space Funds and Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) Funds.

The Borough of Collegeville has made improvements to the site including the addition of park benches, parking for cars and bicycles at the Ninth Avenue and the Rt. 29 entrances, and planting trees. The park has two small ponds, a stream running through it, and is ringed with trails. It is an excellent place for nature walking or running, and is used by Ursinus College and the Perkiomen Valley School District for cross-country events.
