Michelle Reddick Joins Collegeville Borough as

Front Office Administrative Support Specialist

She joins Tamara Twardowski and Ellen Goodman as the Borough’s

Highly Skilled Administrative Team

Large municipal townships can have as many as 200 employees carrying out administrative duties, manning public works, and working in the police department. In small townships and boroughs, the size of the budget determines the number of administrative staff, which is often just two or three persons.

We were fortunate to have Tamara Twardowski join us as our Borough Manager in 2000, with her extensive grant writing, finance, and administrative skills, along with her wonderful sense of humor. But for the last six years, to keep up with all the administrative and reporting work required, Tamara has often worked nights and weekends.

That is why we are thrilled to announce that Michelle Reddick has joined the Collegeville Borough administrative team as our front office Administrative Support Specialist! Michelle started working with our Borough on April 6, 2026.

Michelle has over thirty years’ experience working for municipalities. She was first offered a job with Upper Pottsgrove Township when the Pennsylvania Business Institute sent her there for her first job interview in 1994. Since then, she has worked as Planning and Zoning Administrator, township secretary, and, for a time, as the elected tax collector. In 2019, she was promoted to the Township Manager and right-to-know officer positions. When Michelle retired in January, 2026, her duties also included being the township treasurer, the pension administrator, and the flood plain administrator.

Lucky for us, with her extensive knowledge and experience, Michelle decided that she wasn’t ready to stop working just yet. “I loved my job and I loved every one of the people I worked with. I cared about my community in Upper Pottsgrove. I put my heart and soul into it. I was the Community Day Chairman and volunteered along with members of my family. I also volunteered in the Clean Up Brigade to clean trash off the streets, and was on the Parks and Rec Board,” Michelle adds.

In Collegeville, Michelle has started assisting residents and contractors at the front desk in processing permits, rental applications from home owners, and other administrative tasks.

“Michelle will be assisting with grant administration and tracking, getting all the office’s spreadsheets in order and writing correspondence,” Tamara said. “I am really excited to improve the efficiency of the office, and with her experience, we are looking forward to learning from each other.”

In addition to working for Tamara, Michelle will be working with Ellen Goodman, who has been assisting Tamara since Aug. 8, 2022. Previously Ellen was the assistant at Trappe Borough, where she managed the office. Ellen is also highly experienced, having spent 40 years doing administrative work for different companies. She also acts as a Deacon at Linfield UCC church where she oversees the church’s finances. One of Ellen’s first jobs with Collegeville Borough was to organize 30 years’ of Borough paperwork stored in boxes in the borough’s basement. Those boxes contained building plans, subdivision and land development records, and property records, among others. Then she organized 30 years of police records and created spreadsheets for all the files so that the office staff “can find each of the files that we are looking for.” Ellen’s main role is to assist Tamara with the borough’s financial records and taking care of the day-to-day expenses.

Ellen says that “With three of us in the office now, we can all back each other up. I know that we will all do just fine!”

When Michelle was asked what the most important thing was that she learned at her jobs over the years, she replied that “When I work, I try to do the best job I can every single day. Probably the most important thing I learned was to listen to residents and offer help. It is important that everyone be heard and respected. I never look at political partes or anything else that divides us. We are all just people.

How does Michelle like working for Collegeville Borough so far? “What I like the best is working with Tamara and Ellen and the office atmosphere. It is so positive here! Also, each of our police officers has come in and introduced himself to me. I have felt so welcome here. Tamara has a wealth of knowledge and already she, Ellen and I all enjoy working together!”

Collegeville Borough is requesting letters of interest and resumes from borough residents who would like to apply for a position on the Collegeville Borough Council. The position will fill the unexpired term of a Council member who will be moving out of the borough this summer. Although a standard elected term is for four years, this term will be effective through Dec. 31, 2027.

As a PA Borough Council member, the individual will work as part of a collective body to govern the municipality and work toward improving the community’s quality of life. He or she is responsible for the legislative, policy-making, and financial oversight of the borough, as are all of the other Council members. Key duties include enacting ordinances, adopting budgets, levying taxes, and protecting public health, safety, and welfare. Council members also typically serve on one or more municipal committees, including finance, business development, regional planning, public works, parks, personnel and streets and public safety.

The individual must be a registered voter and have resided in the borough for at least one year prior to the appointment. He or she will be required to attend regular monthly Council meetings as well as workshop and special meetings as needed to establish a quorum and act on municipal business.

Collegeville Borough Council members receive no compensation for their service. However, the Borough does pay for municipal training classes, the majority of which are now available via Zoom.

Interested Borough residents should submit their letter of interest and resume by June 1 to Borough Manager Tamara Twardowski, ttwardowski@borough.collegeville-pa.gov. Anyone with questions can e-mail or call Tamara at 610 489 9208.

The Main Street District will encompass the 300 and 400 block of East Main Street. This zoning change will not affect one’s current use of the property; however, it will offer alternative options for mixed use development. This change is consistent with the Main Street Revitalization Plan that was adopted by Council in July of 2025.
