During a snow emergency, it is unlawful to park vehicles on established snow emergency routes. The use of snow tires or chains are required to drive a motor vehicle on an emergency route. Getting stuck or leaving a vehicle unattended on these routes may result in fines.

• East 5th Ave

• East Main Street (from 1st Ave to Trappe Borough)

• East 9th Avenue

• First Ave , also known as Rte. 29(from Main Street to Perkiomen Township)

Due to a regional road salt shortage, the Borough has a very limited supply available. We’ve been awaiting deliveries, but like many municipalities across the County, supply is extremely tight.

Because this will be a multiday storm, we’ll be adjusting our operations:

Intersections and hills will be treated during the storm

Full roadway salting will occur after the storm ends

We cannot salt all roads as we normally do

We understand some travel is unavoidable, but we strongly encourage residents to stay off the roads when possible and use extreme caution if you must go out.

As a small Borough, Collegeville is fortunate to have an unusually large number of parks:  Community Park, Hunsberger Woods, the new Welakamike Park along the Perkiomen Creek,  and Waterworks Park, owned jointly with Trappe Borough.  Additionally, we have access to Montgomery County’s many trails and parks.  You can read about them all here.

In the beginning of 2025, the Borough began working with the Montgomery County Planning Commission to create a Master Plan for all of our parks, which will provide us with a roadmap for future park enhancements.  On the top of the list for grant money is a refurbishment of Community Park’s playground equipment for 5 – to-12 year olds.  The current equipment ranges from 25 to 75 years old.  Also being discussed is whether to redesign the ballfield so it is smaller. A smaller ballfield will attract neighborhood soccer and softball players and informal pick up games rather than being a location for local baseball leagues.  With a smaller ballfield, we will have the space to add in a fitness area for all ages and a walking trail around the perimeter of the park. (Two pickleball courts were created last year thanks to Council members Gary Hoffmann and Damien Brewster.)

Although the borough had applied for a Greenways Trails and Recreation grant in 2025 for new playground equipment, we were not successful.  However, we remain very hopeful for future grants.

We expect the Master Plan to be completed early this Spring.  Once completed, the plan will be posted on the borough’s website.

Residents are Always Welcome to Provide Input Concerning Collegeville’s Parks

On Oct. 8, 2025, the Park’s Committee and the Montgomery County Planning Commission held an Open House at the Collegeville Fire House to discuss the improvements that residents would like to see in all of Collegeville’s Parks.  Parks Committee Chair, Kathy Costello, is planning another open house for both Collegeville and Trappe residents to discuss improvements for Waterworks Park a little later this year.  The Parks Committee meets on the third Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. at Borough Hall, and residents can also access the meetings via Zoom.  Click on the borough calendar for the link.  Additionally, you can contact Kathy Costello with suggestions at hamiltoncostello@gmail.com.
