Collegeville Borough is requesting letters of interest and resumes from borough residents who would like to apply for a position on the Collegeville Borough Council. The position will fill the unexpired term of a Council member who will be moving out of the borough this summer. Although a standard elected term is for four years, this term will be effective through Dec. 31, 2027.
As a PA Borough Council member, the individual will work as part of a collective body to govern the municipality and work toward improving the community’s quality of life. He or she is responsible for the legislative, policy-making, and financial oversight of the borough, as are all of the other Council members. Key duties include enacting ordinances, adopting budgets, levying taxes, and protecting public health, safety, and welfare. Council members also typically serve on one or more municipal committees, including finance, business development, regional planning, public works, parks, personnel and streets and public safety.
The individual must be a registered voter and have resided in the borough for at least one year prior to the appointment. He or she will be required to attend regular monthly Council meetings as well as workshop and special meetings as needed to establish a quorum and act on municipal business.
Collegeville Borough Council members receive no compensation for their service. However, the Borough does pay for municipal training classes, the majority of which are now available via Zoom.
Interested Borough residents should submit their letter of interest and resume by June 1 to Borough Manager Tamara Twardowski, ttwardowski@borough.collegeville-pa.gov. Anyone with questions can e-mail or call Tamara at 610 489 9208.
