Fireworks Laws - What You Need To Know

PA residents can now purchase and use "Class C" fireworks (consumer grade fireworks - bottle rockets, firecrackers, and any firework that contains a maximum of 50 milligrams of explosive material).  Residents must be 18 years old purchase, possess and use consumer fireworks. The law also states a person may not:

  • Ignite fireworks on public or private property without the express permission of the owner
  • Throw fireworks from a moving vehicle
  • Throw fireworks into a moving vehicle, building or another person
  • Ignite fireworks under the influence of alcohol or another controlled substance
  • Ignite fireworks within 150 feet of an occupied structure 

Mayor Aidsand Wright-Riggins holds regular Open-Door Office Hours at 476 E. Main Street on Tuesday mornings and Thursday evenings. He welcomes conversations with residents, business owners and others during these office hours. You may arrange to meet with him on Tuesdays, Thursdays and at other times by calling him 24 hours in advance at (888) 804 2945 or by sending an email to MayorAWR@council.collegeville-pa.gov.  Mayor Wright-Riggins, also an ordained minister, welcomes the opportunity to officiate at weddings and funerals without cost to Collegeville residents (In lieu of an honorarium, donations to the Daily Bread Food Pantry are requested). Mayor Wright-Riggins does not discriminate on the basis of gender or sexual orientation regarding the performance of wedding ceremonies.

Beginning on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 Collegeville Borough's new refuse and recycling hauler is Whitetail Disposal.  Collection day is still Tuesdays.  The number for bulk item pickup is 610-754-0103.
