Be the Change!

Mayor Aidsand F “Ace” Wright-Riggins

One of the most effective ways I know to make a difference in the world, is to be the change you want to see happen around you.  In fact one of the primary reasons I first fan for Mayor of Collegeville almost seven years ago was because my then 12 year old granddaughter asked me how we could make a difference in our community.

But one does not need to run for office in order to make a difference.  It has been said that the most important political office is that of the private citizen.  And, as a private citizen, you can make a tremendous difference right here in our community.  You can do so by attending and participating in Borough Council Meetings.

Stay Informed:

  • Direct Access:  Council meetings provide firsthand information on the issues impacting our community.  You’ll hear the proposals, debates and decisions directly from the source.
  • Transparency:  Public meetings ensure government functions openly.  Attending allows you to see how your elected officials are representing you.

Shape Collegeville:

  • Voice your Opinion:  Public comment periods are your opportunity to express your views on proposed policies and decisions.
  • Influence Decisions:  By voicing your concerns or support, you can influence the Council’s decisions on matters that affect your daily life.

Be Engaged:

  • Community Building:  Meetings foster a sense of community by allowing residents to connect with their local government and each other.
  • Civic Responsibility:  Participation strengthens democracy by ensuring citizens are actively involved in shaping their local government.

Stay Empowered:

  • Hold Officials Accountable:  By attending meetings, you hold your elected officials accountable for their actions and decisions.
  • Empowerment:  Understanding local government processes empowers you to be a more informed and engaged citizen.

Yes, you can be the change you want to happen, right here in Collegeville.  You hold the most important political office in town, that of a private citizen.  I invite you to exert your influence and power.
