“Bird is the Word” at Hunsberger Woods June 16 at 6 p.m. Followed by “Brewbirding”

On Thursday, June 16 at 6 p.m., come join leaders Patty and John Werth from the Valley Forge Audubon Society for a peaceful evening stroll along the trails of Hunsberger Woods in Collegeville Borough. Help search for the birds that are nesting in the area or those that are just passing through. Hunsberger Woods is located at 334 E. 9th Ave.
Beginning birders and children, if accompanied by an adult, are most welcome to join them. Please bring binoculars if you have them. The terrain is rolling with one steep section and the trails are mostly earthen paths. There is also a low-water creek crossing to navigate. The outing will cover a little over a mile and should last about 90 minutes.
No registration is required for this program. Please note there are no restrooms on site.
Following the bird watching trip, you are invited to then head to nearby Troubles End Brewing, at 50 W. Third Ave. in Collegeville, where of course restrooms are available. Everyone is invited to enjoy “Brewbirding” and dinner with the group!
Once Again, our 10th Annual Collegeville-Trappe Memorial Day Parade was a Hit!
We had hot, but beautiful weather for this year’s Collegeville and Trappe Memorial Day Parade down Trappe’s Main Street on Monday, May 30th! This year’s parade, led by the VFW Post 7155 Honor Guard, also featured our honored Gold Star Mother, Judy Bubeck, along with Boy Scout Troop 7155 carrying placards of our local fallen heroes.
The parade also showcased our state and local elected officials, a wonderful array of antique and classic cars, lots of local groups and businesses, antique tractors, our local fire companies and more. The parade ended at Waterworks Park, where the VFW conducted a stirring Remembrance Service followed by Collegeville Community Day, with food trucks and inflatables for kids.
