Mayor Aidsand F. Wright-Riggins III announced today that the Collegeville community is invited to a special interfaith service in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Sunday, January 26th, at 3:00 PM. The service, titled “Legacy of Justice: A Call to Action,” will be held at the Kaleidoscope Theatre on the Ursinus College campus.
“This event is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. King,” said Mayor Wright-Riggins. “His message of peace, justice, and equality is as relevant today as it was during his lifetime. I encourage all residents to join us for this inspiring and uplifting service.”
The service will feature a variety of musical performances from diverse religious traditions by both college and community groups. Prayers will be offered from Hindu, Jewish, and Christian perspectives. Ursinus College students will provide reflections on Dr. King’s call to action, challenging attendees to carry his legacy forward.
The Rev. Betty Wright-Riggins, Chaplain and Director of Religious and Spiritual life at the college announced that the keynote address will be delivered by Rev. Dionne Boissiere, a history-making figure who serves as the first African American woman Chaplain at the Church Center at the United Nations. The Church Center is an interfaith entity that provides spiritual opportunities to leaders and clerics from around the world. Chaplain Wright-Riggins said, “Rev. Boissiere’s unique perspective and experience promise to provide a powerful and thought-provoking message.”
Following the service, there will be a reception with refreshments, providing an opportunity for conversation and fellowship among attendees.
