Public Water Notice

The Collegeville Trappe Joint Public Works (CTJPW) received test results that two of their wells tested with levels above the standard for drinking water for PFOA (PERFLUOROOCTANOIC ACID). While this was not an emergency that required immediate notification and a boil water advisory, the public is entitled to notification. PFOA is a man made chemical that is present in many things such as non-stick cookware, carpets and packaging materials and most people may be exposed to it without knowing it. However, over time, high exposures may cause health risks. At this time CTJPW has taken the highest contamination well offline and is investigating other water sources along with decontamination methods. Consumers do not have to use bottled water at this time; however, if you have health concerns please talk with your medical professional. More information about PFOA and PFOA can be found here.
